moved!

It seemed like it took forever, but we finally moved to north carolina, closer to Kyle's job and school. He's enjoying them both, so that's good for the rest of us.

The house is really cute, and very bright, just like I like it. It's right in front of a semi crappy trailer park but it's whatever. They're entertaining if nothing else, the neighbors are cocaine addicts who constantly have 4 letter word matches in the front yard.

but life goes on :)

Happy Pills!

So I'm taking happy pills. It's nothing to be ashamed of, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with having to take medication to prevent my horrid mood swings and the defiant illness that plagues me every couple hours. I feel so much better. Kyle is appreciative of them too, and I'm sure my girls are more than thankful for my sudden wave of patience. I feel much more motivated, quicker to get things done; I feel happy and fulfilled, very much unlike last week where I was down on myself all day.

I would still like to find a part time job. It would help out, and it was part of our agreement when Kyle came back home. It's not easy though, and I've been calling. Just alot of places don't like the fact that I've been out of work for over 2 years, almost 3. I think it would help to have something to do, another source of income and a way to take a "break" from the depressing confines of these four walls. Speaking of these walls, I wish I could paint them. Their dark existence haunts me.

One nice thing though, our Easter was lots of fun and I finally got to see our new car. New to us anyways, even though it's older than I am. I named it Bumblebee Senior, and he's a pretty yellow 1986 camaro. I can't wait to take him to the beach, and on dates with Kyle. <3

  • 1/2 lb of ground beef/turkey
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 tube [12 oz] of refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 5 slices of your favorite cheese

Directions:

1. Cook the beef in skillet, add onion, salt and pepper; drain and cool.

2. Place two biscuits overlapping on floured surface; roll into 5 inch ovals.

3. Place 3 tbsp of meat mixture onto one side; fold cheese slice over to fit.

4. Fold dough over filling; press edges shut with a fork.

5. Place on a greased baking sheet and cook on 400 for 10 minutes.

Be sure to poke holes in the top of all pockets! This is very important to release steam!

Tales From The Potty

So, either Isabella is a magnificently gifted child, or potty training is really not as difficult as everyone makes it out to be. If you even want to call it training, she started on March 5th. After coming home from a long trip, I just asked out of nowhere if she needed to pee. So we sat her on her potty, rain the sink water and she went. I screamed of course and was so excited. It just seemed like a normal old thing to her, although the next time she saw me use the potty she screamed and clapped in approval.

So, pretty much ever since then, we started putting her on the potty before and after naps, before she went to bed at night and when she woke up in the morning. Now, not even a month later, she will tell me when she has to pee [since we have a babygate up to keep them in the living room, she has to ask to get into the bathroom]. Sometimes if she has access to her potty, she won't ask me but just go on her own. She has yet to do #2 in the potty but that's fine, as long as she's comfortable I'm fine with it.

Cute story though; Kyle leaves for work at 7:30 AM, so sometimes I guess he's a little noisy in the morning. I was attempting to go back to sleep a couple days ago, and heard something in my room. I opened my eyes a little bit, and there was Bella standing beside my bed. Before I could say anything, she put her finger up and whispered "I gotta go pee", so I said "Well, go ahead baby". Since her potty is in our bathroom, I guess she felt she needed to ask permission. She promptly peed and while running through the kitchen back to her bedroom, she yelled "I peeeeeed!" She went back to sleep until 10 AM ... she's the funniest little thing.

Spring has Sprung!

I have to say, my Winter babies LOVE spring and summer! I have so many plans to let them have fun this summer since I've been pregnant for the last three basically and just didn't get out much. I'd really love to buy them a sandbox, cause my Kyla loves dirt :) Momma and Daddy came over the other day and brought them some sidewalk chalk, so our back driveway is completely covered by what Delilah hasn't eaten yet. We need more outside toys, and I wish we had a tree big enough for a tire swing but alas, we do not.

I've always been interested in my heritage and just found out the other night that I am Irish [duh! I'm covered in freckles!], Cherokee Indian [that was interesting to find out, although that gene must be completely lost on me!],  and Black Dutch. Okay, I for one had never heard of that terminology and was lost on it's meaning. So, trusty old Wikipedia told me this:

"Black Dutch is an American ethnic designation that is not officially used. It often occurs as part of family lore passed down in certain Southeastern families of mixed-race ancestry, especially those of Cherokee descent.[citation needed] In common usage, it generally did not imply African admixture, although some families who used the term were of tri-racial descent."

So, further down, I was very interested to find that the term "Melungeon", first used in U.S. records by The Primitive Creek Baptist Church of Tennessee [where my biological grandfathers family comes from], is in reference to specific surnames such as Collins, Minor, and Gibson [Gibson is my biological last name.] So, pretty much what this means is that aside from being Cherokee Indian in itself, I'm also dutch mixed with Cherokee indian, so I'm a good majority of Indian. Also, Black Dutch was a slang term in where Indians were trying to seem more "White" in favor of being treated more equally [considering this term was coined in the 1800's]. It's like Scotch-Irish, where Irish wanted to be treated better when they came to America and chose to say they were Scotch as well. I find it very fascinating.

So, what does that have to do with it being spring? Nothing, except I'm wondering why the Indian gene doesn't help me tan? LOL. Either way, I'll burn with pride I suppose, let the irish part take over. I'm hoping to look more into our heritage if someone else hasn't already.

Kyle bought a gun yesterday --- I'm not too sure how I feel about it yet, but I get to shoot it soon so I am excited. I am about to go fix lunch for the girls, lay them down and go lay outside to read my new book "Shadowland" and maybe get some sun. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
